The new Tri-Agency Guide to Financial Administration (TAGFA) will take effect for all eligible institutions on April 1, 2020. As UBC was one of the twelve institutions involved in the pilot of this initiative since November 2018, this refresher course will review the core sections of the new Guide on the administration and use of grant funds.
In addition to the Core Refresher course, participants will have an opportunity to draw from their own experiences and other scenarios illustrating the application the new Guide research expense eligibility. This will an interactive course where participants may submit scenarios in advance of the course for group discussion.
Key course objectives are:
- Applying the principles and directives that govern post-award administration of grants funded by the Tri-Agency
- Understanding and differentiating the respective roles and responsibilities of the Tri-Agency, administering institutions and grant recipients
- Recognizing the flexibility provided by the TAGFA
- Applying institutional policies, administrative systems, procedures and controls at an intermediate level to ensure that activities are conducted in compliance with Tri-Agency policies and procedures
